Puppies and Props and Socks, Oh My!! | Dallas Family Photographer

Sometimes a great photograph is captured completely by chance or on a whim. Many times though, it takes lots of effort, patience and planning to get the picture of your dreams. That was definitely the case last night. With some creative forethought of our awesome photographer (Jael!!:)) and a darling little family that was willing to suffer through the cockle burs and bugs that we encountered in our countryside setting, we were able to capture the most amazing images for this self-described wild and crazy family!! They wanted FUN and Jael provided them a double dose. From finding the most picturesque spot for our shoot, to loading, unloading and lugging a love seat through the prairie, we knew that planning for this shoot was going to pay off in a big way. Because we knew our clients wanted to create a happy atmosphere for the shoot, Jael brought silly paper mustaches and funny paper cut-out eye glasses for the kids to use as props. Coupled with that, we had our silly subjects bring brilliant and bright colored socks because we knew they didn’t want just the average portrait-styled family photo. To our surprise, this fun little group also brought funky bow ties for the boys, which they wore with shamelessly, and that made for some awesome pictures that this family will always cherish. Last but not least, we were able to include the four-legged family members for this crew. Even though it took a little patience, the puppies did fantastic. They were just as photogenic as their two-legged brothers and sisters!!:)

If you’d like to book a themed session for your family that will give you images to cherish for a lifetime, don’t hesitate to call me. Jael is exceptionally creative and can tell a fabulous story through pictures using your loved ones as the subject. I speak from experience, as a longtime client of Jael DeYoung Photography. The money I have spent on images of my family is by far the best investment I have made when it comes to my homes’ decor. When it comes to having pictures made of your kiddos, Jael will not only give you images that will last a lifetime, but she will also provide heart warming memories of “the way they were” that every mom, dad and grandparent longs to have in a frame.

My 365…. | Dallas Family Photographer

So, I realized while trying to put together Taylor’s graduation slideshow last year…that I don’t have very many photos of my own kids, my own life…very sad. So, I made a resolution that I would do better this year. Maybe even pull out some of the old scrapbook paper and actually do something with it besides watch it collect dust. Well….I had every good intention to do all of those things, but time just seemed to get away and instead of pulling out that old scrapbook paper…I just began collecting more. I then decided to be more realistic and start using my instagram….if you aren’t on there…you need to be. It’s so much fun and can I tell you for the first time in a VERY long time I’m documenting my family’s life. I just shoot things all day long. Even little things or big things…like the laundry that sits there waiting to be folded and put away from last week. I will then choose a favorite image from that day and load it onto my phone using my “My365″ app…then at the end of the year I plan to have them all printed to an album along with my instagram pics. Here’s my pics for this month.

Spring has arrived….. | Dallas Child and Family Photographer

Ahhh, sweet Springtime…. so glad to have you back again!!! Even though our winter was mild, there’s just something about spring that I think we all long for. Seeing new life burst from the ground and bud from what looked lifeless is something that I will never get used to…. it’s such an encouragement to me to see new life springforth again! The cold winters may take away the color of our world, but with the warmer weather and longer days, our flower beds, gardens, parks and landscapes can’t help but do what they were made to do! BLOOM!!!! Isn’t it cool that they get a do-over every year. Such an example to us that, even when we’ve been beaten down, blown over or pruned by life, we can have a do-over, too, and do what we were born to do… so, as the saying goes, “bloom where you are planted” today! Treat yourself well, just like you would your plants…give yourself some sunshine, fertilize by eating well, exercising and surrounding yourself with positive people and, just like you do when you find the perfect bloom on a favorite plant, take a picture!!! Or…better yet, have Jael take your picture.:)Now is the perfect time to capture your newborn, your children or your entire family. The weather is spectacular, the springtime beauty all around us is amazing and your busy summer isn’t here yet, so go ahead and book your session now!! You will be so glad you did. Just like you want to remember the beauty that surrounds you in the spring, you also want to remember your family as they are now…. don’t put it off any longer. Let Jael use her amazing gift to photograph your loved ones. You will be so glad you did. She makes time stand still and can give you a collection of photographs that will warm your heart no matter what season of life you are in.
